JULY/AUGUST 2020 NEWSLETTER
Hi Everyone,
I hope everyone is enjoying this extremely hot weather, having lots of family time and staying safe!!
I would like to start this newsletter off by congratulating our Acro students that completed their first year of exams! They all passed with flying colours and make us so proud. Well done dancers!
Before we explain our next steps in regards to opening the studio in September, it’s important for you to understand that we are taking all necessary precautions to open the studio in the safest way that we can and want you to be comfortable sending your dancers to us. We have invested in a fantastic sanitization device called EnviroNize that is a DIN Registered Disinfectant and approved by Health Canada. The product used is non-toxic and has been tested to be 99.99% effective in killing Coronavirus as well as other viruses. This investment will allow us to spray and disinfect each studio, washroom, waiting area, all mats, bars, and anywhere else deemed necessary to keep everyone safe.
REGISTRATION
We usually don’t start Fall Registration until late August, but this year is going to be a little different. We need a solid commitment from all of our families in order to plan the schedule safely. If you plan on returning to Aspects you must email me and register no later than Saturday August 8th, 2020. We need to know numbers to set up our classes.
Classes start on Saturday September 12th, 2020. There may be a few families who are not comfortable returning to the studio, yet, in this case please let us know and we will work to continue Zoom lessons from the studio.
Unfortunately, we will not be holding classes for our 2 and 3 year old Tiny Tots in September. If by chance, we find a vaccine or our circumstances change with Covid 19 in the New Year, we will definitely hold classes for them, but at this time it’s a NO, as you cannot socially distance little ones!!!
Our competitive highland dancers have been dancing in the studio for the past 3 weeks, and it’s been so awesome to watch the huge smiles on their faces as they enter and exit the studio. I know they love being back, and we love having them.
PROTOCOL FOR RETURNING TO THE STUDIO IN SEPTEMBER
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: It cannot be emphasized enough, that if there is any sickness in your family please send an email to your teacher, to advise your dancer will be absent from class. If any of our teachers are sick, they will email to advise they will be cancelling the lesson.
I understand this is a lot to take in, and may seem daunting, however, once we are back into routine, it will quickly become our new normal. Our ultimate goal is for everyone to learn in a healthy and safe environment.
Highland lessons continue at the studio through August, and Private/Semi Private lessons are available, please contact your teacher for more information.
Finally, please register no later than Saturday August 8th, 2020, if you wish us to hold a space for your dancer. I’m really sad that we will not have our little Tiny Tots starting in September, but we haven’t forgot about you, we will have you back to the studio as soon as we possibly can.
Keep watching our Facebook page for a video regarding our re-opening and what to expect when your dancer arrives!
Talk soon,
Mrs. Belton

PROTOCOL FOR RETURNING TO THE STUDIO IN SEPTEMBER
- All teachers will be wearing face covering/mask/shield
- Dancers do not wear a mask (this is not safe while dancing as air flow is restricted)
- We will leave 15 minutes between each class, to allow easy entrance and exit of students, which will also allow for disinfecting high touch areas between classes.
- Parents note that our teachers will come to the parking lot/front or back door to welcome your dancer, as no parents are permitted inside the studio. Please feel free to bring a lawn chair if the weather is nice and socially distance on the grass area. If any parent needs to use the washroom, please disinfect after use, and also wipe down high touch areas as you exit the studio.
- We recommend that your dancer comes prepared to dance. This entails having hair done, dance attire on, and dance shoes on, which will limit extra clothing items and big bags being brought into the dance space. This will make for a more efficient transition of dancers entering and exiting the studio.
- The front waiting area and change room will be marked out and reserved for students who have back to back classes. Here they can wait the 15mins between classes (no belongings can be left here). Seniors will be permitted to wait in the Change room between classes and will be required to sanitize their zone as they leave. Space is limited in these areas, so we ask Parents/guardians to be prompt at pick up times.
- No contact temperature check for every dancer entering the studio. We will have hand sanitizer stations throughout which the dancers will use before and after class.
- The Studio floors will be clearly marked out to ensure safe physical distancing during class; giving each student a comfortable and safe area to dance within.
- There is no such thing as “overkill” when dealing with Covid-19 and we want to keep our teachers, dancers and families safe.
