Acro is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the athleticism of Acrobatic skills. Its roots are in traditional Chinese dance, later appearing on the Vaudeville stage and more recently gaining popularity with contemporary circus productions like Cirque du Soleil and main stream TV shows like ‘So You Think You Can Dance’.
The Acrobatic Arts Syllabus breaks the technique into five divisions: Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling. Safe and effective step by step progressions take a student from Beginner to Advanced. Not just for Bendy Wendys, Acro will help all dancers to improve their strength and flexibility. This style of dance teaches students the importance of being spatially aware, persistent and confident. It often includes working with a partner or group and using balance and agility skills to work together and achieve a common goal. Through Acro training, students will experience the joy of accomplishing hard earned personal goals. |
