Highland is a very technical form of dance, requiring endurance, technique, stamina and strength of an athlete and the artistry of a dancer.
The traditional solo dancing of Scotland is recognized as a sport by the Sport Council of Scotland. Scottish Highland Dancing is regarded as being one of the most sophisticated forms of national dancing in the world. At Aspects of Dance we focus on National Dances of Scotland. All competitive Highland Dancers are encouraged to take ballet to help with flexibility and strength. |
