Covid-19 Return to Class Plan

Learning in a safe and healthy environment is our priority.
We will continue to monitor Federal and Provincial guidelines and are constantly working towards the next phase of when and how we can re-open the studio, safely.

All of our staff at Aspects of Dance are committed to the health, safety and well-being of our students and their families. First and foremost, we are committed to following public health guidelines as they evolve and change throughout the upcoming season and trust you will be as committed as we are for everyone’s safety.

Additional Cleaning and Sanitation
Sanitation stations will be readily available throughout the studio such as the lobby, bathrooms and each dance space. We ask that students sanitize their hands upon entry and exit of the building; students will be given opportunities to wash their hands/sanitize throughout their lesson. Before and after each lesson, all studios will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized, including the cleaning of ballet barres, dance floors, instruments, and any other high touch areas. This will be done with our new state of the art sanitization machine that was shown in our re-opening video.  Washrooms will be cleaned with increased frequency during and after opening hours.  We have a 15-minute gap between all classes to ensure this cleaning can be done effectively.

Masks
We ask that all students wear a mask while entering the studio, in class (until a teacher instructs otherwise), when using bathrooms, and upon leaving the studio.  Each student should bring a Ziplock bag that they can put their mask into when it is not required in class.  We have purchased individual ‘slots’ for the students to put their masks into once removed and in their bag; this will be sanitized also.

Building Capacity
We will be adhering with provincial building capacity regulations at all times. As such, parents/guardians are asked to bring their children to their lessons, wait for their teacher to open the door and welcome them one at a time.  We ask that parents please wait until all students’ temperatures have been checked and recorded before leaving the parking lot.  This way, if your dancer has a high temperature you are still there to take them home.   Parents/guardians will not be permitted in the studio at this time. We have attendance and temperature records for every student set up so that we will maintain diligent records of all persons who enter the building on any given day. Common areas such as the lobby and change rooms will be closed until further notice.  Students are asked to come dressed in the appropriate dancewear prior to arrival. Please keep all personal belongings not required for any lessons at home.

Lost & Found
We will not be maintaining a Lost & Found bin. Please encourage your child to bring only essential items with them to each lesson. Items left behind after lessons may be disposed of.

Pre-entry Screening
Every Monday, parents will receive a pre-screening survey to complete online for their dancer each week.  This is to help us assist public health with contact tracing if such incidents arise.  This survey will come from a new e-mail address, so please look out for it as it may go to your junk mail:  noreply.aspectsofdance@gmail.com
Students will not be permitted to participate in group or private lessons until a parent/guardian has successfully completed the survey. This survey consists of a few questions such as symptoms, travel and family health.  We fully trust that each family will answer honestly to these questions to ensure we are all safe.  Completed surveys are sent to the noreply address where all teachers have access to ensure each student has submitted their form for the week.  If anything changes during the week once you have submitted your survey, we ask that you please contact Mrs. Belton at aspectsofdance@cogeco.ca to update her.  If your child exhibits any symptoms of COVID-19 and/or has come into contact with someone tested positive/suspected of having COVID-19 and/or has been outside of the country in the 14 days prior to their lesson, we kindly ask that you keep them home until they are safe to return. All staff are asked to adhere to the same procedures for self-screening.

Arrival/Dismissal
As seen in our ‘Returning to the Studio’ video, if your dancer has class in Studio A they are to enter through the front door of the building.  If your dancer has class in Studio B, please drive to the back of our unit where there is a 2nd entrance for students in this room.  Parents/guardians are asked to please wait in the car with their dancer until their teacher welcomes them into the studio.  Further, we remind parents/guardians to please wait until temperatures have been recorded before leaving the parking lot. If a student has multiple classes in one day, with a break in between certain classes, they are asked to make their way to the waiting area where they must stay seated in their chosen area until the start of the next class. Students will be dismissed promptly following their lesson(s) and will be directed to their designated building exits so please ensure you are at either Studio A or Studio B for pick up.  We ask all parents/guardians please wait outside the building to receive your child(ren) and to kindly arrive on time to ensure prompt dismissal.

Social Distancing in the Studio
Group class sizes have been capped to ensure adequate physical distancing among students can be maintained. All studio floors have been marked with tape to create 6 x 6 foot squares (or the equivalent) and each dancer will dance within their own square.  As long as weather permits, exterior air flow will be introduced in each class where possible. For example, we will be opening the back door or garage door in Studio B. Fans will further facilitate air flow with open windows and doors. Students are required to bring their own water bottles to class. Instructors will only be supporting students from a safe distance. Students are expected to maintain a distance of at least 2 metres or 6 feet from others when travelling throughout the studio. We ask that all students avoid touching walls, doors, light switches unless specifically directed to do so to lessen touch points throughout the building.

Washrooms
We ask that all parents/guardians encourage your child to use the washroom before entering the studio. Washrooms are not permitted to be used as a dance changeroom. Washrooms will be cleaned with enhanced frequency.  If parents are waiting for their students and absolutely must use the washroom, we ask that you please use the provided cleaning supplies to wipe down surfaces as you touch them all the way through to the exit.

Outbreak Protocol
Should a student or staff member test positive for Covid-19, Aspects of Dance will work diligently with Halton’s Public Health unit to ensure contact tracing and communication of potential exposure to all families at our studio. Rigorous sanitation procedures will continue to ensure no further spread. Students or staff who test positive will be required to self-isolate for a minimum of 14 days before returning to in person classes and a doctor’s note clearing the individual for entry may be required. Should circumstances allow, the student may wish to continue taking classes online from their homes. An instructor may be required to teach their classes online from home, should they be able. Each potential situation will be evaluated on an individual basis with the safety and well-being of all parties at the forefront of all practices.

Trial Students
Trial students must complete pre-entry screening prior to entering the building. We will not be accepting “walk-ins” for trial classes at this time. At this time, we will not be running our ‘Bring a Friend’ program until it is safe to do so.  All newcomers must contact Mrs. Belton prior to attending a class to ensure we have followed all protocols and safety measures for each dancer.

We will continue to monitor government updates as they arise and share any new information with you as we receive it. Thank you for your cooperation and support. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us  anytime by calling 905-320-9518 or e-mailing aspectsofdance@cogeco.ca
